I once attended a protest in Boulder, CO that held the intent of addressing a random host of issues that the general public was not concerned with. The leaders of the group gave speeches and explained that children should be not be required to attend Kindergarten because it is useless. They had statistical facts that showed the Kindergarten failure rate to be essentially zero, and they used this fact to prove that nothing is taught in Kindergarten. You can’t fail someone if you haven’t taught them anything…. right? The protesters referred to their agenda as the “Save the Children” program and asked for no donations or publicity. This group also protested Bob Saget’s stupidity as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, the unrestricted use of blow up dolls, and the rising popularity of “Fairy Pants” as indiscriminately worn by road bikers who weren’t even involved in a bike race. The inconsequential protest movement has gained new ground with the “Occupy Wall Street” crowd, albeit with a bit more political charge. The image below lists a few counter-protest signs that might provide a fitting backdrop to this new opposition movement.

I recently drove to Canada and expected to encounter a general sense of animosity against the citizens of the United States and their government. Instead, the biggest criticism I heard from the Canadians was in regards to the “watered” down American beer that has come to represent our great nation. It wasn’t until I reached a rural highway within the United States, that I was exposed to complaints regarding the behavior of our government. The message on the back of this farm truck reminded me of grievances made by liberal arts professors just a few years back. Only those criticisms were made in regards to a different president.
